WALKABOUTWEST was started in 1999 to offer

guided walks to visitors to south east Cornwall.
It is run by Mark Camp, a qualified Blue Badge Guide,
who has lived in the Looe area for over 30 years.
Since he was old enough to be allowed out on his own Mark
has been exploring the countryside around his home town
of Looe. The coastline, both to the east and west of the town
offers wonderful walks with sea views hard to beat.
Along the way paths lead down to hidden coves,
if you know where to
find them, and inland the two Looe rivers snake between wooded hills and meadows rich in flora.
Further afield Mark has developed a love for the
rugged parts of Cornwall, the high moors. With their prehistoric
standing stones and 19th century mining remains, they are an area of
great interest.
Less than half an hours drive from Looe's crowded streets you can be on the open moor
with just the song of a skylark for company.
Leading in from his guiding work, Mark has been asked to
write several books with a walking theme. This culminated
in the publication of The Copper Trail in 2005, a 60 mile
walk around Bodmin Moor.
This new
WALKABOUTWEST website is aimed at providing
those interested, with all the information they might need
to enjoy the countryside that Cornwall has to offer.
